You're about to overtake a cyclist. Why should you leave them as much room as you would give to a car?
Before overtaking, assess the situation. Look well ahead to see whether the cyclist will need to change direction. Be especially aware of a cyclist approaching parked vehicles, as they’ll need to alter course. Do not pass too closely or cut in sharply as this could unsettle the rider.
